Great new program at the JCC this winter. Our instructor Nikki is a certified Early Childhood Educator as well as an extremely experienced dance instructor. She know exactly what to do to get your kids involved in music and movement.
The PJ Library Launch will be a great time! With a birthday party to celebrate the world, two story readings (at 9:15 and 10am), crafts, sncks and movie time with Shalom Sesame (The Sticky Shofar), who could ask for a more?
For SJCC members, fall/ winter program registration opens today. Non-members can register next Monday, Auguest 29th. Programs that offer registration outside of the SJCC, such as Monkey Rock Music and FITMom, registration is open to all now! The Family Life Centre has a great lineup for the upcoming year. If you have any questions about the programs being offered, please ask away. You can email me directly at tcogan@jccottawa.com. Looking forward to an awesome year with you and your little people!
August 11th is the big day when the Fall/Winter 2011-2012 program guide becomes available in print at the SJCC and online @ www.jccottawa.com. There is a great line up of programs for babies and young children ages newborn to five. We have several drop-in programs if that is what best suits your style (fear of commitment!) or classes that you can register for by the session.
Please be sure to keep an eye out for more information on our Parents Parlour. The first "parents only" evening will be on November 8th. The topic for that evening will determined shorlty and then topics for future meetings will be discussed on November 8th. We are really looking forward to bring adults together to connect with and support one another and find humour in some of the tougher moments of parenting. Feel free to get in touch with me and ask any questions (tcogan@jccottawa.com).
A bestselling phenomenon among parents and educators, this book is an inspiring new roadmap for raising children. Wendy Mogel’s sage reflections on a world where entitlement and competition abound have struck a chord with thousands of readers. When the values of the culture are at odds with the one parents wish to uphold and instill, The Blessing of a Skinned Knee offers a refreshing antidote. Instead of anxious overparenting, the book points the way to raising self-reliant, grateful, optimistic children.
